This is an extraordinary beast of a board with rocket like performance in a neo-classic design and in typical Mctavish fashion, has loaded it with features.

It boasts a low entry rocker and higher volume for easy paddling. A new quad fin set up that also doubles as a twin fin, and with a pulled in tail for fantastic manoeuvrability…sick!

This quad set up gives this bobsled speed to burn with more thrust than a thruster, and turning ability for face pivots, snappy pumps, and big gouges. The bigger volume paddles well for any big guy that likes a short board, with plenty of floatation to surf it hard and quik.

Modern Surfboards by Global Surf Industries have one called the Contour SLX which is famous for it’s Contour Rail Stringers and the SLX construction. The stringers are not wood but heavy duty fibreglass inserted vertically along the rails giving the board a vibrant feel. The board features a full deep concave that flows into the rounded v tail. The SLX construction makes it super light weight to fling around in the surf and with the concave to the front makes it a great nose rider. You can set it up as a Quad or Big Single or a Thruster with the options available. The standard set up is single 8″ centre fin with two FCS outsides. SURF SHOP at Peregian Beach has one that was used as a display demo board and only waxed and ridden once. Mc Tavish Surfboards are arguably the pinnacle of surfboard design in Australia and some say the world. This McTavish on offer for sale is a 9’1″ Fireball shape in a beautiful softish kind of pinkish colour on the bottom and round the rails with a dusty light blue deck and a very pretty swirly McTavish logo on the front. To categorize this board as a ladies color would be accurate, not withstanding I have seen guys riding this model at Noosa. Surf Betty by Global Surf Industries is their best selling girls surfboard constructed in epoxy resins and finished off in two pack white paint (not unlike your mothers car) and a really nice pink/sky blue swirly pattern on the whole deck. These boards are outstanding and perform very well for beginners and experienced girls as well. This Surf Betty has a scratch along the rail but does not detract and is for sale at $495.00 a saving because of a scratch of $100.00

Central Coast Malibu make this Ocean blue model that’s 9’4″ and constructed with Volane glass for extra strength and that classic look. This is a big blokes surfboard with plenty of volume being 3″ thick through the middle by 23″ wide. Custom shaped with a round square tail and clear with yellow and in pristine condition, probably only surfed a few times and then stored in the garage. This type of custom Central Coast Mal would be about $1490.00 new but as it is a pre-loved our price is $890.00 with leggie and board bag.

The Seagrass Project Tuna

The next frontier in board performance top surfers, designers and shapers alike are at one agreed, that it will be “Flex”. Boards that are carbon railed, parabolic, and boards that are stringer less offer this Flex. But wait…

Flex is some thing surfers are still getting their head around, but there is one guy on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland that has it nutted out, and he is way ahead in understanding Flex in surfboard design. That bloke is Tom Wegener who has an understanding of modern material theory, combined with ancient knowledge and heaps of experimentation, and with the help of his formidable team of forward thinking surfers, brings us the Seaglass Project Tuna!

These new Seaglass Project Tuna design boards are similar to the Alaia models that top surfers have been having fun with over recent years. The new models are called “Tuna” and “Mini Tuna’ and like the timber Alaia have no fins. Tom Wegener says, “they are a perfect blend of proper flex, rail and bottom contours”. The Tunas are constructed of modern materials for better floatation and with the combined effect of a flat rocker profile, gentle curves, and hard rails that grip the board into the waves like no other, with exhilarating speed on any wave.

You may start to see surfing in a different light with this board in your quiver. The Seaglass Project will broaden your horizons, and open your mind to a new way of surfing.
