SUPERFISH II Traditional Polyester Model

SUPERFISH II Traditional Polyester Model

Arguably the best ever Superfish model surfboard ever sold, with a million sales world wide, to date.

The latest Superish is a totally new model, with a new bottom contours that run single from the nose to double to the fins, that provide extra drive, lift, just plain faster than the last model Superfish. To increase lift off the tail the fliers are more defined than before allowing greater release and helping the boards speed.

The great buoyancy is still achieved with the step deck that has always been a feature on this model and again doesn’t hinder the rail performance.

Strength gains in production in the tail are with the extra glass and bead layer around the fins and over the edge.

Fin set up is still the 5 fin system in FCS and5 fins are included. Board pictured is available at Surf-Shop in all sizes and limited numbers in the FFCarbon Rail, and the Epoxy X-2 is available from the 15 Jan.

You are invited in to check them out at Surf Shop Peregian Beach Sunshine Coast.

McTavish Fireball Evo Two “Epic” Mal Board Test
McTavish Fireball Epic is Evert Harders instore model at Surf Shop Peregian Beach. Surf Shop Peregian booked Sunnycoast Klips out for a session up at a favourite break, Granite Bay. Although the waves were’nt excellent, some reasonable footage was filmed, and Evert made the most of his time and had a good go surfing the Fireball Epic in tricky conditions. Good to see the young man out there having a go at 62 years of age”…Sunnycoast Klips.

Mick Fanning Video’s

Mick Fanning
Just “fanning” the web pages and video blogs for a bit of interesting footage to share, and came across a couple of videos of Mick Fanning. One was footage of Fanning courtesy of Steve Maloney of Sunnycoast Klips here on the Sunshine Coast, and the other by Mick Fanning him self from the Goldie that shares an interesting concept of surfing.
Just a little tad different to river surfing. Check out the tidal surges! Woosh!!
Hope you “like” both clips

SURFING PEREGIAN BEACH

Surfing Peregian Beach

Sometimes a visit to the local Pitta St surf spot at Peregian Beach brings a few suprises.

Hanging over the viewing platform rails and looking at really crappy, chopped up, mush called surf, which belies what was pushing in here a few days earlier.

“Pumpin’ Pitta” it certainly wasn’t,…on this day.

Three young surfers racing past me to get into the water, obviously to get cool, all said “g’day” as they ran past.

They proceeded to shred the surf to pieces. You could hear their laughter over the sound of the wind and waves.

The next day the same young guys happen to wander into the Surf Shop at Peregian Beach to check things out, and have a talk to Stevo.

Typically young guys talking surf and stuff, but the talk got to movies, and as Stevo is the owner of Sunnycoast Klips, making surf clips and videos the talk got exciting enough, and one of the young guys called James, had a video done (collaboration with one of the mates) featuring himself. Young James and his mate were well spoken young surfer dudes, that surf really well, and I think that if James was on the right gear, he would do better. But I digress.

His video is worth a look, and is a credit to those who got together to do it, and I think he won’t mind if I attach it here:-

LAYNE BEACHLEY – OURS

LAYNE BEACHLEY…
Layne Beachley …hmmm.
Layne first and foremost is a Sydney girl that cut her teeth on her favourite beach Manly. Layne considered this beach to be her personal paradise.
Layne pushed aside her early days of personal problems, that only made her more determined to one day be the worlds best female surfer, and that didn’t take long in the general scheme of things.
Layne in her middle teens pushed aside the amateur side of surfing contests and contested only the Pro events. At the young age of 20, Layne was on her way, ranking no 6 in the world. Starting on the Pro circuit at this young age has seen Layne Beachley develop into undoubtedly the finest woman competitor of her generation.
Layne had not a great deal to prove, but none the less she took on the ultimate wave of the time, Sunset Beach. Sunset gave her the reward for all the effort and training put in. Beachley took this wave with open arms and enthusiasm that impressed many a man.
Layne Beachley dominated in the ultimate man’s world, …surfing, with huge effect at surfing spots that were once reserved for men.
Trouncing all women opposition, and winning both events on the Hawaiian women’s tour leg in 1996. She still struggled in smaller waves, but overcoming the difficulty in 1998 (by the largest margin in women’s history). She racked up five more titles between 1999 and 2003, And, in 2006, she added a seventh to smash the four-time records held by Lisa Andersen and Frieda Zamba.
In between, Layne continued her attack on the big surf, becoming the first woman to tow into 35-foot surf on Oahu’s Outer Reef, and back in Australia she set the bench mark even higher, with a tow-in at “Ours” with that wave considered to be the largest wave ridden by a female. Penny for her thoughts at the time.
Layne Beachley has left no stone unturned when promoting women’s surfing and being frustrated by lack of support, she created her own label…”Beachley Athletic”, not only but also producing her own World Tour Event, snagging the forward thinking Commonwealth bank as a primary sponsor, to create the “$100,000 Commonwealth Bank Classic”, being the largest prize purse ever on offer, which was held at Dee Why point.
Beachley also started the Aim For The Stars Foundation, to assist women in fulfilling their dreams. More about this in an other article at:- http://www.aimforthestars.com.au
In October2009, Layne surfed her last WCT event capping a 20 year career and reasoned “At the end of the day, I’ve had a fairy tail career, and I guess you can’t have a fairy tale career with a fairy tail end ”…
Layne leaves in her wake, a level of humanity that all young surfers of today, can aspire to.
Yeah Layne!
Information and some stats courtesy of Layne’s biography for a quick read at:- http://www.focusseries.com.au/biography/laynebeachley/

McTAVISH – FIREBALL EVOLUTION “EPIC”

McTAVISH – FIREBALL EVOLUTION “EPIC”

In conjunction with McTavish Surfboards Byron Bay, Surf-Shop Peregian Beach, has just released a new, McTavish surfboard called “Epic

Based on the true and tried, and ever trusted Fireball Evolution shape, the “Epic” has a few visual features that make it stand out.

This is first and foremost a custom surfboard, and the model developed by Surf-Shop Peregian Beach (07 54713489) is offering this “Epic” with brilliant full top & bottom spray/color designs and finishes with no duplication on this model.

The “Epic” has a slightly tapered nose to a gentle point like the Evo 2 which allows for that little extra nose lift and concave. This concave then flows down the middle of the board. The rails are just a tad sharper and the double concave to the fin area is not just an ordinary double concave, but a double concave with…..

Channels

Though the idea of channels is not new, especially for short boards, it has largely been over looked as a design feature for Mals, so the introduction of channels to this “Epic” makes it unique.

Bob has taken it upon himself to over see and shape these boards, so that the shape and placement of the two channels on both sides of the main fin and between the side fins, are in the optimum position for a performance out come.

This board really rips, holds the turns, and drives fast down the line, and if looks ever counted, it’s eye catching!.

9’1” models available in store for perusal and purchase, and other 9’1” to 9’ 6” made to custom order.(bring in your design and colours)

Come on down to check them out at Surf-Shop Peregian Beach 224 David Low Way on the roundabout, with plenty of parking underneath the store.
