Julian Wilson Wins Nike U.S. Open of Surfing 2012
Knocking off Brazil’s Miguel Pupo in the final at Huntington Beach Pier and taking home the winners cheque of $100,000 in some what ordinary conditions.
Julian’s semi-final against Gabriel Medina was highlighted by his revert back into the pier pylons, that seemed to get every one’s attention, and then capped it off with a big air in the closing minutes, all but ending Medina’s efforts.
Julian said after the event, “ I felt like I was peaking at the right time. My start to the year was shaky from my ankle injury, but I feel on top of it now. My “Lost” board performed for me when I needed it, (thanks Matt Biolas.)”. Julian continues “I put a lot of trust in that board, and it worked”

NIC DORAN from Caloundra surfing mostly at Kings Beach, and a video clip courtesy of “Sunnycoast Klips” this is to raise awareness of his current attempt at raising money to get to Bali for a photo shoot with Soggybones Magazine.
The KBT is holding a night for him on the 14th of July and raffling off a board by Emery and a board by SLS, also grips leashes and fins from his other sponsors.
SLS Surfboards at Moffat Beach also helped Nic Doran to raise money to get to Bali for a photo shoot with Soggybones Magazine.
Steve Maloney owner Sunnycoast Klips says “1 day with NIC DORAN is all it takes to realise that the kids teaming with natural talent and has an eye for surfing. A day spent with NIC DORAN at Kings Beach, is an interesting one filled with: Rain, Spiders, Sharks, Queer European photographers and many other mutant animals we come across”…Please enjoy the klip of NIC DORAN

People are fixated with injury, we need to see cuts and bruises for the proof.
When Julian Wilson impacted the reef at the ASP Tour 2011 and the result was a cut to the bone, it was definitely going to take time to recover.
At times in various interviews, he has said he was 80%, but more recently he was quoted as saying “100% but the rest is in my head”. With the help of a little bit of healthy therapy though to continue on surfing, has put a strain on his knee,
Sketchy results followed in the Tour, but with the on going treatment we will see the Sunny Coast iconic surf star Julian Wilson reach his peak again if the following footage is any guage. This was at Coolum Bay with no pressure or care, Julian enjoying him self. Footage courtesy of Sunnycoast Klips peregian Beach.
Julian spotted recuperating in mushy surf (31/5/12) on the Sunny Coast just checking out how clean the air is in Australia…that’s some air Julian Wilson!

This all time “most popular” 7S Superfish II surfboard has finally been updated to increase both performance and durability. A very deep single to double concave heralds a new bottom (not what it sounds like) A concave that provides extra drive and planing due to the extra lift in the tail, adding that extra speed in an already sick shape. The fliers now look like the real thing as does the swallow tail by definition, providing release off the tail when you want it and also creating that extra speed. Hey it still has that famous “step deck” that lets it float better than most and the step doesn’t interfere with the rail action.
Extra glass is used to make this board durable. The fin set up is a 5 fin plug system and FCS fins provides the steering system.

BOARD MEETING CORPORATE SURF EVENT

THE BOARD MEETING CORPORATE SURF EVENT Each year a dedicated group of volunteers organize and manage The Board Meeting Corporate Surf Event to raise much-needed funds for local disabled children and their families. Over the last five years the event has raised over $130,000 for charity, proving again that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community.

The main event

The event, which started in 2003, is run in early November each year (this year November 6) and draws on the enthusiasm and generosity of the Surfing and Business communities to participate in an amateur surfing competition where the emphasis is on fun.

2010 Timetable

Friday 5th
5.30pm – 8.00 pm Event launch, location confirmation, competition outline, handing out of competitor gift bags & shirts, raffles and drinks at Kawana Surf Club beer garden

Saturday 6th
6.00 am Meet and set-up
6.30am First heats
11.30am Expression Session
From 12.15pm Move to the Kawana Surf Club beer garden for lunch
Fashion parade with the gorgeous Hive Swimwear models
1.00pm Auction and celebrations
2.30pm Presentations

Surf memorabilia auction

All funds raised from the event including entry fees and proceeds from the annual surf gear & memorabilia auction held on presentation night, go directly to local families in need.
