Peregian Beach is located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, approx 20 kilometres south of Noosa Heads.
The Village of Peregian Beach and the enclave of Marcus Beach on its northern side front the broad sweep of ocean and surf beach just south of Noosa Heads. The name ‘Peregian’ is derived from the regional aboriginal dialect, meaning ‘Emu’.
The narrow coastal residential strip provides easy walking access to the beach, while acreage properties to the west offer spacious living only minutes from the surf. POPULATION and DEMOGRAPHY
Peregian Springs Peregian Beach and Marcus Beach have a combined population of some 5,000 including adjoining acreage areas (2007 Govt. Stats), this population more than doubles in holiday time. Peregian Springs and the proposed Coolum Ridges development to the south-west will eventually add over 20,000 to the combined area’s population.
A report that was issued by PRD Nationwide Realty dated recently but referring to Peregian Beach back in 2004 stated at that time the age demographic was:-
Proportion of people aged 65 years + was 14%
Proportion of people aged 15 years or younger was 20%
Proportion of people aged 15 years to 65 years was 66%
With an average age of 39 years old
Remarkably, the demographic blend includes older residents, the newer ‘sea-change’ baby boomers, younger families who work in the dominant tourism and building industries, professional and self-employed working from home and holidaymakers/weekenders. The blend seems to work superbly.

CLIMATE & LIFESTYLE:
While the magnificent beaches provide a focus for lifestyle pursuits, the area boasts superb National and environmental parks, a host of sporting venues. The recently upgraded Village streetscape provides the perfect, relaxed venue for its rapidly growing reputation among the café society.
The climate is sub-tropical with summer daytime temperatures averaging around 29°C and winter around 22°C.
Maroochy Airport is less than 20 minutes by car, providing services to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane, and regional Rail services to Brisbane run from Nambour (20 minutes away). Buses link the coastal communities with regular services, and run to both Maroochy and Brisbane airports and Nambour rail head.
Limousine, hire car, taxi and mini bus networks are well established. Driving time Brisbane to Peregian via the Bruce Highway is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
The Peregian Beach Community School and Peregian Beach Kindergarten provide excellent primary and early-learning services.
St Andrews Anglican College is established at Peregian Springs.
New junior and senior Public High School is in the planning.
Surf and Bowls Clubs are active at Peregian Beach. The area is also a golfer’s paradise with no fewer than 8 resort, private and public courses within 20 minutes drive and also offer Boating, Sailing and Fishing enthusiasts huge scope. Equestrian, Gymnastics, Tennis, Rugby, AFL, League, Soccer, Cricket, Softball, Netball and all major sports are well catered for in terms of clubs in the area.
PEREGIAN BEACH SKATE BOWL:
To replace the old donut bowl that has been at Peregian Beach for almost 20 years, Convic designed and constructed a very modern skate park beside the original location, this time with a little more shade and many more things to do there, including the main bowl 7ft deep, smooth transitions and a love seat, just like in the old pool days, as well as other banks, smaller transitions, and for the tech street skaters, a block and a rail down stairs at the far end. This is located at Kingfisher Drive Peregian, near Surf Life Saving Club.
The Sunshine Coast is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia. Major resorts in the immediate area include The Hyatt Regency Coolum, and Novotel Twin Waters with Peregian Beach in-between. A host of smaller resorts, serviced and un-serviced Apartments, Motels and B & Breakfast accommodation cater for overnight, weekend or longer term tourists.

S.L.S.C The Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club is:- Situated 1 1⁄2 hours north of Brisbane and is one of the northern Clubs of the Sunshine Coast Branch.The club building itself is easily located in the picturesque surroundings of the fore-shore area on the beach side of the Peregian Beach Shopping Centre. A welcoming, family atmosphere can be found at the club, with a rapidly growing contingent in the Nipper ranks and the development of a Junior Surf Committee which helps to coordinate activities for the younger active members of the Club.
Club facilities include:
* Active Member’s multi-purpose leisure room (with television/video, kitchen and training equipment).
* BBQ area with kitchen
* Junior social and training venue
* First Aid room
* Beachside Radio Room
* An extensive array of lifesaving equipment including dual cab rescue vehicle, quad bike, jet ski, inshore rescue boats, skis, surf boats, racing boards and rescue & resuscitation gear.
Lifesaver training courses are available for new and existing members.
The Club is fully licensed with a range of gaming machines and is open from 3.30pm Monday to Sunday. The Seashells Restaurant prepares delicious home style meals from 5.30pm. Visitors and bona fide guests are welcome!!
Every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday morning of the month, the Peregian Beach Markets are held in the Park in front of the Clubhouse with a colourful myriad of hobby stalls, entertainment and a sausage sizzle.
